Octadecanedioic Acid MTBE (CAS 843666-40-0), also known as octadecanedioic acid (C18 diacid, stearic diacid), is a C18 linear alpha,omega-dicarboxylic acid of the long-chain aliphatic diacid class. Octadecanedioic acid is the main fatty acid building block for the synthesis of Semaglutide's fatty acid side chain. The C18 diacid (as opposed to palmitic acid in Liraglutide) has one end of its carboxyl group activated for amide bond formation with glutamic acid in the assembly of the side chain linker. The other end binds albumin, which allows semaglutide to have a once-weekly pharmacokinetic profile.
